Volunteer Ministry: Best Practices and Strategies will provide a holistic framework for best practices in volunteer management that is adaptable to any context.

Participants will gain understanding of the four major components of effective volunteer management: invite, connect, equip, sustain. This course is also an opportunity to gather ideas and effective practices from other practitioners. Finally, participants will develop a system for volunteer management in their local context.

Course Format

This course includes 6 hours of synchronous instruction over the course of four 1.5 hour sessions.


There is also asynchronous work, including weekly readings and a final project.


Cohort Groups

Participants working towards certification will join with others in a monthly cohort, led by an experienced facilitator. These 60minute cohort gatherings will provide guided reflection on current ministry as well as time for prayer and support.

Yvonne Gentile

Yvonne Gentile serves as the Guest Experience & ShareChurch Lead Director at Resurrection, A United Methodist Church, in Leawood, KS. Prior to joining Resurrection’s staff in 2011, she served in multiple ministry leadership roles over 13 years while working fulltime as an executive leader in the retail industry. 

 

Yvonne is the author or co-author of six books, including Serving from the Heart, Serving from the Heart for Youth, Leading from the Heart, Leadership Essentials, The Art of Hospitality, and the Greeter & Usher Handbook, all published by Abingdon Press.

 

Yvonne and her husband Frank have two adult children and one much loved, but very stubborn, long-haired Chihuahua named Tito.
